Delano School (Whitney District No 2) was built in 1897, closed in 1965, and used by the Arenac County Historical Society as a museum from 1970-1984. The building is now abandoned. One source states it's a log structure, but it looks like a frame structure to me. It also looks like it was a two-room schoolhouse, with the probably-original building having several large windows on one side and a bell tower which still holds a school bell. A second building built at right-angles to the original, forming an L-shaped total building, had 7 large windows on one side.
