Barron Lake School, Howard Township, Cass County, Michigan

Location: 41.8514, -86.1753, at 1345 Barron Lake Rd, Niles, MI.

Barron Lake School (Brickell School, Brickle School, Howard District No 10 School) was built in 1928 and closed in 1949. It replaced a wooden schoolhouse that served from 1861 to 1928. The 1928 school is a red brick schoolhouse and looks to me like a two-room school. There are 3 large windows on either side of the central front door, and only one small window on each side of the building. There is bell tower covered in louvers. The building is now used as the Howard Township Offices. This schoolhouse looks very similar to Snell School, Beech Road School and Kilmanagh School to me.
