Essex Center (District No 2) School is a beautiful brick schoolhouse, built in 1884 and in use until 1957. It is now a gorgeously restored and cared for private residence. The four large windows on each side still exist with fancy brickwork around them, the home has a sturdy metal roof, and a bell tower with a bell! The plaque above the door reads "Essex Center - Dist No 2 - Erected 1884". A two-story addition on the back provides extra space.
