French School, Greenbush Township, Clinton County, Michigan

Location: 43.0602, -84.5734, on the north side of French Rd between DeWitt & US-127

French School (Greenbush District No 8) was built in 1892. It is a red-brick schoolhouse with a rather fancy design and some ornamental woodwork and projecting brickwork. Three large windows are on each side, one of them converted into a doorway, all with brick arches above them and keystones in the center of the arch. A bell tower still exists but I see no school bell inside. The school identification sign is still centered in the front of the building, under the bell tower. A relatively-modern wooden addition was made in the front of the building, and a cinder block addition was made in the back at some point. The building is now used for the business of Plum Line Landscape & Design, established in 1985.
