Eccles School, Sigel Township, Huron County, Michigan

Location: Withheld, since the school is still in use.

Eccles School (Sigel District No 4) is a wooden white-sided schoolhouse, built in 1886 and still in use 131 years later. Mary Eccles, the teacher from 1891-1898. About 30 students are taught here in 2019. If the schoolhouse started out in 1886 as a simple rectangular schoolhouse with two windows on each side, then this school has been added onto several times over it's 131 years of service. There is still a bell tower with a school bell on the front of the peak of the roof of what I suspect was the original schoolhouse.
