Grindstone City School (Port Austin District No 2) was built in 1906. You can read some of its early history here. It's a quite large brick structure with multiple school rooms, certainly not a one-room schoolhouse! The school is now used as a hotel for people enjoying the beach resort area at the tip of the Michigan Thumb.
