Addison School, Woodstock Township, Lenawee County, Michigan

Location: 42.05803, -84.22840, at 12025 US-12, Brooklyn, MI.

Addison School (Woodstock District No 7) was built in 1869 as a red-brick schoolhouse on a fieldstone foundation. It is now an antique shop, but was closed today when I visited. No bell tower remains. The front of the school has a single centered door, a large slightly-arched window on either side of it, and a half-circle concrete school identification sign above the front door which reads "School District No 7, 1869". Each side of the school has two large slightly-arched windows; I don't know why the 3rd window near the front of the schoolhouse was left off of both sides. The windows on the sides of the schoolhouse have non-projecting 2-row arches of edge-on bricks above them, and the windows and door on the front of the school have projecting 2-row arches of edge-on bricks above them, with straignt columns of projecting brickwork running down each side to their bottom. There is a small wooden addition in the back.
