Forestville - Bay City School, Greenleaf Township, Sanilac County, Michigan
Location: 43.66341, -83.02850, on the north side of Bay City - Forestville Rd, between S Thomas Rd and Germania Rd.Forestville - Bay City School is a nice-looking schoolhouse that sits all alone at the side of the road surrounded by corn fields. No sign or bell tower remains today, but the multi-colored brick work is in good shape and the schoolhouse has an ageing metal roof which still looks to be in relatively good shape. The doors and windows are all missing, so I'd suspect the inside is not in such great shape. There used to be a single centered front door with a transom window above it and a large window on either side of it. There are 3 window openings on the right side and 4 on the left side. The decoration on the windows and doors is simple - just a concrete lintel above each and concrete sills below. The brickwork is unique in my experience with Michigan Schoolhouses, being predominantly red brick with large bold square and triangular accents of white bricks. |
