Cinecitta Studios, founded in 1937, is a complex of film and television studios. It is a place that merges two of my favorite things in the world: Rome and the Movies, so I can't be objective about it. Fellini made most of his films here in Studio 5. So did hundreds of movies set in Rome. So did the HBO miniseries Rome. So did Ben Hur, Cleopatra, The Great Beauty, the Spaghetti Westerns of Serge Leone, Godfather part III, Roman Holiday, the Talented Mr Ripley, U-571, Umberto D, and the Young Pope. So it's a place I had to visit and want to return to someday.
