A Tourist in Rome - Maxentius

Birth:278 AD
Death:October 28, 312 AD (drowned in the Tiber at the Battle of the Milvian Bridge)
Emperor:306 - death

Maxentius was the son of Emperor Maximian and his wife Eutropia. His birthday is unknown, but probably in 278 AD. In 305, Diocletian and Maximian abdicated. After much confusion, Maxentius was appointed emperor by officers of Rome's garrisons on October 28, 306 (6 years to the day, before he died!), and he happily usurped power. This was a time of Civil War, though, and Maxentius was defeated by Constantine at the Battle of the Milvian Bridge on October 28, 312, during which he drowned in the Tiber River.
